Former Jazzman Rodney Hood off to a running start with the Cavs

(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) Utah Jazz guard Rodney Hood (5) as the Utah Jazz host the Milwaukee Bucks, NBA basketball in Salt Lake City Saturday November 25, 2017.

Crowder came off Utah’s bench on Sunday night and scored 15 points as the Jazz dispatched the Portland Trail Blazers 115-96 for their ninth consecutive win. Hood was just as impressive, scoring 15 points in 19 minutes during his Cavs debut, as Cleveland soundly defeated the Boston Celtics.

In a season where Cavaliers star LeBron James has yearned for secondary scoring, Hood seems to be just what he needs. He made 3-pointers. He got to the basket and scored off the dribble. He was efficient in catch-and-shoot and shooting on the move.

Hood, who was traded in the hours before Thursday’s deadline, told the Sporting News that he’s heard the whispers that he’s soft, and that would give him reason to play the remainder of the season with a chip on his shoulder.

Hood came off the bench during his debut. But he will probably find his way into the starting lineup before long, especially with Kevin Love out, due to injury.
